Prof. François Sanchez
Laboratory of Photonics of Angers, the University of Angers, France
Title: Square-wave versus dissipative soliton resonance in passively mode-locked fiber lasers
Biography:
François Sanchez was born in Paris in 1962 and he obtained his PhD in 1987 from University of Paris Sud (Thales Research & Technology). The subject of the thesis was the investigation of wave mixing in liquid crystals and semiconductors in the middle infrared. In 1988, he obtained an assistant Professor position at ENSSAT where he was involved in several projects on fiber lasers and microchip lasers. He became full Professor in 1997 at the University of Rouen where he initiated the activities on double-clad fiber lasers. In 1999 he obtained the prize Arnulf Françon from the Société Française d’Optique (French Optical Society) for his book Optique Non-Linéaire. In 2000 he joined the laboratory POMA (now Laboratory of Photonics of Angers) at the University of Angers where his researches include nonlinear optics, fiber lasers, short pulse generation, high energetic pulses and square-wave generation. Since 2010 he is the head of the Laboratory of Photonics. He is author or co-author of more than 350 publications and communications.
