Title: Microwave and terahertz spoof surface plasmon polariton waveguides, devices, and antennas
Abstract:
Taking the advantages of the unique subwavelength electromagnetic confinement characteristics, spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) have recently attracted increasing interest for various promising microwave and terahertz applications. In this talk, I will share our recent progress on microwave and terahertz planar SSPP waveguides, devices, and antennas. In particular, I will present several compact planar microwave and terahertz SSPP waveguides with L-shaped/folded/spiral-shaped stubs, greek-cross fractal/split-ring/meander-strip units, double-sided parallel-strip lines, and substrate integrated plasmonic waveguides. Based on these waveguides, I will also demonstrate their applications in bandpass/notch filters, splitters, wide-angle beam steering leaky-wave antenna, and bidirectional multi-mode microwave vortex antennas. These works may pave the way the way toward designing high-performance SSPP waveguides, devices, and antennas, offering potential applications in highly integrated plasmonic wireless communication sytems.
